Dunedin's Best Kept Accommodation Secret!
You'll be hosted in a home built around 1905 which retains many of its original architectural features. These including a pillared carved archway in the entrance hall, hand painted and hand grained doors & wall panels, magnificent carved mantelpieces, tiled surrounds, ornate pressed tin ceilings and chandeliers.
We offer 3 elegant and well appointed private guest rooms packed with Victorian architectural features and “to-die-for” luxury beds. Guests regularly compliment the sumptuousness and comfort of our beds and our biggest complaint is they hate getting out of them! Guest services are tailored to individual travellers and the needs of corporate clients are our speciality.
Tariffs include a sumptuous cafe style breakfast served in the Dining Room with a beautifully set table featuring silver service and fine china.
The house doubles as an art gallery featuring NZ artists. Often the art creates an interesting topic of discussion amongst guests and there's always something interesting and unusual on offer. Most art is for sale.
Situated in North Dunedin and minutes from the city centre on flat terrain (no Dunedin hills!), Bygone Era is close to all amenities and within walking distance of Ross Home & Hospital, Baldwin Street (steepest street in the world), Otago Community Hospice, Botanic Gardens, Knox College and the University of Otago. Off-street parking is available and public transport stops outside the gate.
We are committed to ensuring your comfort and an enjoyable stay so if there is anything you need, please ask.
Your host is Angela Tidey.
